Forget socks and sandals, according to whoever styled the Perry Ellis Fall 2011 show, it’s all about pants tucked into chunky socks worn with lace up utility boots. Turns out, the sportswear men’s brand is more forward thinking than we thought. In fact, they launched a number of notable initiatives to coincide with their show this season. Among the most exciting, they had a contest in which they asked people to vote for which male out of a lineup of nine they would like to see walk the Perry Ellis runway.
They also launched a “Wear it First” initiative in which the brand’s designer, John Crocco, selected his 10 favorite looks from the Fall 2011 show, and those looks then went on sale right after the runway collection wrapped, allowing Perry Ellis Facebook fans who shopped within four days of the show to wear garments months before they hit clothing store racks. Lastly, they asked models Brian and Travis Davenport to film “Backstage with the Davenport twins” segments in which they speak to fellow models prior to the show. All of this content is up for view on the brand’s Facebook page.
