Fashion Week isn’t the only thing to get excited about in these coming weeks. Countless fashion-themed reality shows are hitting – or returning – to the airwaves and we’re still a short while away from the Sundance Channel’s reveal of their Fashion Week programming which will, fingers crossed, come with some new episodes of “The Day Before…”
Among the confirmed shows is a new series on Lifetime called 24-Hour Catwalk, which will be hosted by Alexa Chung. According to WWD, the show will pit designers against each other in runway challenges with new contestants featured in each episode. In other Chung news, PBS is slated to run a show titled Thrift America which follows the former model/TV presenter and style.com special projects editor Maya Singer across the country as they dig for hidden gems at estate sales, consignment shops, and the likes.
Also in the works is the much buzzed about It’s a Brad Brad World, which will star former Rachel Zoe assistant, Brad Goreski. The Bravo series will follow Goreski as he goes into business for himself and tries to maintain his personal life. Among the things promised to be shown in the docu-series are Paris fashion week, the Cannes film festival, the men’s runway shows, and the summer couture shows. As for Zoe, the fourth season of The Rachel Zoe Project will begin airing on Bravo September 6.
In other Bravo news, stay tuned for Mad Fashion, which is billed as presenting “an up-close look at the over-the-top world of celebrity fashion designer Chris March” – you didn’t think he was putting in all that camera time on the Real Housewives of New York for nothing did you? From concept to delivery, each episode follows March, the former Project Runway alum, and “his eccentric crew of fashion misfits as they create one-of-a-kind designs for his loyal clientele.” Among the garments created on camera are Jennifer Coolidge’s Mardi-Gras float ensemble and model Chrissy Teigen’s gown for the MET Costume Gala.
From the classic Chanel suit to this season’s hottest Jimmy Choos, the team working at the Second Time Around high-end consignment shop are said to have access to some of the best fashion finds New York City has to offer. Bravo’s Ready to Wear will follow four store employees as they go out searching the attics, closets, and garages for high-end treasures and, rounding out Bravo’s fashion/beauty-themed programming will be Tabatha Takes Over, which stars Tabatha Coffey of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover. This time the salon owner is taking over more than just salons, but a variety of small businesses and family enterprises.
Over on The Sundance Channel Joe Zee’s reality show All on the Line, has been picked up for a second season. Elle‘s creative director will be back for another round of whipping designers into shape in November. On NBC, Nicole Richie, John Varvatos, and Jessica Simpson will make up a panel of “celebrity mentors” in an Elle Macpherson-hosted show called Fashion Star. Macpherson told the Daily News that unlike the show’s obvious competitor, Project Runway, they are “not looking for someone to create a couture dress for the Oscars,” adding that they want “someone who can design lingerie, swimwear, denim — accessible things that regular people wear.” As for the judging, it will be done by retailers who will vote by purchasing the designs. Viewers will also be able to purchase the designs online.
Get those TiVos ready because that’s a heck of a lot of style TV to take in this fall!
