Stella McCartney; Rebecca Minkoff
It seems counter-intuitive for sheer to be a Fall trend, but given that sheer fabrics made their way onto countless runways including some of the most influential ones like Valentino, Givenchy, and Stella McCartney, there’s no denying that this flirty fabric is here to stay, at least for the coming months.
Jason Wu; Rodarte
The use of sheer fabrics this season often tied into a prominence of lace as was the case in Jason Wu‘s collection (the designer used no less than 15 kinds of lace), Marc Jacobs, Rebecca Minkoff, and Rodarte‘s, all of which mixed sheer with lace to create a number of their looks.
Marc Jacobs; Givenchy
Others still used the fabric for peek-a-boo tops and knicker-revealing dresses and skirts. While this trend can seem intimidating, it need not be. For a less daring look, skip the sheer skirts and opt to layer a sheer top over a solid or go for a garment with sheer section in a particular area you’re confident about (see Marc Jacobs image above).
