It’s been a long month of shows and a long month of interesting, and not so interesting beauty looks. We saw minimalist feminine beauty in New York, a bit more drama in London, and everything from retro housewives to grunge kids in Milan. Now in Paris, we’re celebrating easy, wearable, but still memorable beauty looks from the collections this past week. Keep an eye out later this week our roundup of some of the more outrageous beauty looks of the season.
Bold beauty looks are often reserved for the evening but can easily work for day. This look, from Dior, features a slightly shiny red lipstick paired with warm taupe eye. With very little eyeliner and clean cheeks, it doesn’t look overworked or even hard to do. It’s a great way to step up your daytime beauty routine without too much effort.
Every beauty addict in the world waits with bated breath to see what palette Chanel will show each season. This season’s “under the sea” collection was highlighted with actual pearls in the models’ hair and on their faces as well as pearl tones on their nails, eyes, and cheeks. The iridescent pearl colored polish is sure to sell out quickly come spring and paired with a soft pink lip and super highlighted cheek, the look was youthful, modern, and is easy to recreate (especially if you forgo the pearl accessorized brows).
Runway makeup can be all about fantasy but sometimes it works best when it just highlights natural, effortless beauty of the model. This look from Loewe walks the line between fresh-faced and made up as it looks like it was applied all with the finger tips. The lipstick is smudged and there are no harsh lines on the face or eyes. It’s a perfect daytime look that you can easily do at home.
Navy eye makeup is already a huge trend for fall with brands like Dior and NARS coming out with highly pigmented shadows but it appears the trend will hold steady until spring. This look from Paco Rabanne pairs white shadow with silver glitter and navy blue to help keep the eye from becoming too dark and is a perfect alternate to the standard smoky eye.
With everything from feather extensions to pre-braided headbands in the hair accessory market today, it’s hard to make an impact. As soon as the first model sporting a tiara took to the runway at Louis Vuitton, it was clear they were going to be a hot item next spring. Whether it be the Duchess effect or a simple return to ‘pretty’, the label showed simple bejeweled headbands and delicate banded tiaras that made the girls look like modern day princesses.
At YSL, hairstylist Guido Palau gathered the models’ hair into a sophisticated chignon and fastened it with a clip special ordered by Stefano Pilati. This look is so easy to do and the modern, gilded accessory adds a hefty dose of glamor to this otherwise standard bun.
