KRISTEN DAVIS DESIGNS FOR BELK DEPARTMENT STORES

 
You can currently see “Sex and the City” star Kristin Davis in one of the biggest movies of the summer.  After shooting and promoting the dressed-for-success film, Davis could easily take a long vacation to sleep in and watch the box office numbers, but she’s not ready to take a break.
 
 
 

Davis is closely working with Belk and designers to develop the line, drawing on inspiration from her own closet and “Belk’s Southern sensibilities.”

 
 
The casual yet classic pieces will be available in sizes 2 through 14, reflecting Davis’ desire to cater to women of regular sizes and not focus on the celebrity standard of body type. “High fashion is almost a disservice,” she said. “We wanted

the clothes to fit a variety of body types, and we tried to make everything simple and wearable and flattering.”
 
Her sense of responsibility about the line recalls costar Sarah Jessica Parker’s Bitten line for Steve & Barry’s. Not only was Parker involved in the development and promotion of the line, but she also incorporated her ideals and values into the

business plan. Parker, who grew up in a poor family, wanted to make quality clothing affordable. Likewise, Davis is designing for the people she grew up around.
 
 
The first celebrity clothing line for 120-year-old Belk, the Kristin Davis brand is slated to be the “biggest launch in the history of the $3.82 billion retailer.”
