Heavy on color-blocking, the designer showed a beautifully tailored collection that was sparse on bold frills — two-tonal fur (a la The Row and equally fantastic), brocade, and metallic embroidery aside. Further, perhaps to differentiate it from the brand’s forthcoming H&M collection, there were few prints in the line-up. In fact, many of the season’s standouts were done in monochrome shades, including belted capes with oversized pockets, cinched-at-the-waist fur vests, and high collar outerwear – again with oversized pockets. It should also be noted that this may be THE season for Marni to hit it big with bags. Top handle slender takes on a retro doctor bag shape were fashioned with cut-outs and made for truly covetable pieces.
