Patrick Demarchelier shot Russian art world It Girl Dasha Zhukova for the cover of Vogue Russia’s Art Issue. Art Directed by Fabien Baron, it’s no surprise that this image is reminiscent of Interview Magazine, where he currently reigns as editorial director.
“I had to take a second look at the masthead, this is very/too much Interview. Tsk Tsk Fabien,” VogueDisciple93 chided – without much conviction, I might add. “Looks great though!” he concluded.
“Interview is this you?” jmrmartinho teased. “Amazing cover for a change… Fabien does wonders.”
Jelavender posted, “Love the masthead design. It’s difficult to dislike anything Fabien Baron–related. Patrick does a good job as well. The portrait is stunning.”
Baron got a lot of credit from forum members, but Dasha deserves some recognition, too. “Absolutely flawless, Dasha is incredibly beautiful and to see her on the cover is even better,” Chanelcouture09 noted. “The styling suits her – I like that they haven’t tried to do anything radical… because you don’t need to do anything when you have someone as gorgeous as she is for the cover.”
Vogue Russia can be very hit or miss. So whatever they’ve done differently here, they should continue to do it.
