Thomas Tait Nabs First-Ever LVMH Prize

Thomas Tait can call himself a winner today, as the designer is the first to snag the LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize. After being vetted by a panel of LVMH design superstars like Phoebe Philo, Karl Lagerfeld and Raf Simons, as well as bosses Delphine Arnault, Pierre-Yves Roussel and Jean-Paul Claverie, Tait took home the $409,270 prize and will get a year of mentoring.

Tait beat out a collection of worthy contenders. Finalists included Shayne Oliver of Hood by Air, Simone Rocha, Vika Gazinskaya, Miuniku‘s Nikita and Tina Sutradhar, Tillmann Lauterbach, CG by Chris Gelinas, Suno‘s Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty, Tim Coppens, Gabriele Colangelo and Simon Porte Jacquemus.

Congrats to Thomas Tait and his line! It will be interesting to see how his label develops with this injection of cash and backing from one of the world’s largest luxury conglomerates.
