Get ready, the new season of R&B Divas LA is returning on July 16 at 10/9c. TV One’s reality series about some of R&B’s most soulful ladies is the perfect summer show to help you wind down after a day at work…and post-work happy hour. Follow new cast members Chrisette Michelle and Leela James as they join Lil’ Mo, Claudette Ortiz, Chanté Moore and Michel’le juggling their complicated personal lives, their families and their high-profile careers. On top of that, they’re challenged to balance new and old friendships with their peers. Can they climb to the top of the R&B charts and still get along? Will the girls have a divine diva-ention and keep it together, or will it be a disaster?
Of course, you can’t have a show about divas with at least some drama. Try as they might to avoid it, if we know anything about reality TV it’s that even a relaxing hike can turn into a heated argument, as can a sit-down dinner or even a simple trip to the zoo. One poorly-placed shady remark can become a whole feud — and we’re ready to lap it all up a second time around.
If this season is anything like the last, you know you’re going to be in for some seriously compelling story lines and shocking revelations. Who could forget how stunned we were last year to hear that Dr. Dre had broken Michel’le’s nose in a domestic dispute in the past, or the real story behind Claudette Ortiz‘s relationship with former City High bandmates Robby Pardlo (her high school sweetheart) and Ryan Toby (whom she later married)? And how about that awkward moment when Kelly Price failed to show up to her own charity event, leaving the rest of the cast scrambling to prepare a song in her place?
Wendy Williams will be on hand to host the reunion show, and if you remember last year’s, ex-cast member Dawn Robinson didn’t even show up for the taping, because things got so heated during season 1. We expect this second go-round for the Los Angeles divas to be just as drama-packed.
