It was a refreshing modelling cast, with the likes of Hannah Saul, Ivana Martyn and Sarah Pauley lending their leggy physiques to the runway, and Myer’s designers sure had some surprises in store with surprising colourways, bold accessories, and looks pulled straight from another era.
The face of Myer, Jennifer, opened the show in a city-chic outfit by Maticevski, wearing a white suit with a sparkling crop underneath, teamed with a wide-brim hat and grey ankle boots.

What followed for Maticevski, was, as expected, nothing short of amazing. We’re talking about the designer’s much-loved shapely gowns and tie-up fronts, plus the addition of floral lace and a feminine nude-pink domination.
Tie-up detailing continued on in Ellery’s range, a collection we subconsciously pre-ordered during its Paris Fashion Week showcase last September, exuding fluid femininity and divine structures.

Something we were yet to witness was Sass & Bide’s Autumn 2015 offering. It’s the first we’ve seen from the label since founders Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke left the brand, and, we’ve got to admit, we were a little underwhelmed.

Only a select amount of pieces were shown, limited to textural all-black looks and a pop of green. The only thing reminding us of the brand we were actually looking at was a sheer-black maxi skirt adorned with gold crosses. Luckily, metallics are going to be bang on-trend, with sparkly fabrics showing up in Jayson Brunsdon and TOME NYC’s collections too.
Yeojin Bae’s cut-outs will be a strong contender for our wardrobes again this season, as well as serious colourblocking with both bright and pastel pink, cobalt blue and black. Don’t worry, though, you’ll get your fair share of prints, with tartan by Maison Scotch, and Aurelio Costarella’s rich green, red and yellow pattern. Christopher Kane’s orange-crochet pieces and Peter Pillotto’s eye-catching prints will also help colour injections make their way into your wardrobes this autumn.

The male models, led by Kris Smith, also brightened things up, or put smiles on the ladies faces at least, when they strutted their stuff in the likes of Politix, Scotch & Soda and M.J. Bale. One even rode a bicycle on the runway. Now that’s something we don’t see every day.

Another thing we haven’t seen for a while is the mustard hue, but, people, it’s back. Just ask Karen Walker, who sent models down the catwalk in a cutesy floral print against a mustard background.

And when it comes to accessories, prepare yourself for the 70s-chic neck scarf, seen on looks from Cue and Kate Sylvester, as well as statement earrings like dangly bling or bold hoops. Cue’s pussy-bow blouses, flared pants and faux fur coats are also set to revive the era.

Other trends set for a triumphant return include criss-cross fronts and shapely midi skirts from White Suede, one-shoulder tops as seen by Arthur Galan AG, and classic monochromatic ensembles from By Johnny.
Myer favourite Alex Perry closed the show with what looks like a little varsity inspiration from last season, but at least those awful tie-up white boots were nowhere to be seen. The short-sleeved white panel dresses and tops are back, and plenty of lace and pastel pinks are amongst the collection to keep you feeling girlie all season.

We’ve got to say Autumn 2015 is shaping up to look like quite the season, and we can’t wait to start repping these Autumn 2015 trends. Bravo, Myer! Is summer over yet?
