How Burt’s Bees Lip Crayons Take Me from Office to Party

Makeup-free isn’t always the way to be. Putting on a bit of paint can actually make you look more polished and refreshed, so I always try to make sure I have on a little something if I have to go to the office or to a daytime event. Again, easy and natural is key, so my routine is as simple as a little foundation, blush, mascara, concealer and eyeliner. For my lips, I swipe on a bit of Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Niagra Overlook. It is almost the same color as my lips, just a bit more pink, and brightens up my face. It’s a matte shade, so for days when I want some shine, I’ll throw a little clear gloss over it.

I usually don’t have time during the day, but nighttime is a different story. Because I’m not rushing to work or an appointment, I can play a little bit more with my makeup look. I can dilly dally, listen to music and sip wine while I get ready because I’m not actually scrambling to get out the door. For evening, my makeup is always a bit more dramatic, though I still like to keep it simple. My philosophy is to employ easy techniques that make it seem as if I created a look that requires more skill than I actually have. I love a highlighted waterline and a cat eye, so I combine the two for evening, lining the bottom of my eye with a gold color and creating a cat eye on my lid. I add a little highlighter to my routine to get a bit of a glow.

I was first introduced to Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Napa Vineyard last Fashion Week and I fell in love. One of six shades in the collection, it’s a rich, berry red hue that complements my skin tone perfectly. It’s a color I love to wear out at night because it’s so easy to apply and it goes on smoothly. It’s matte, but it never dries out my lips, so I add it to my nighttime looks because it’s such a flattering shade to use.

Every girl needs a reliable lip product and Burt’s Bees Lip Crayons are a great choice. I love matte finishes and they’re the most moisturizing mattes I’ve ever used. A big plus: they even fit in my tiniest purses. And the best part? They’re only $9 dollars each so I can save that money for a cocktail when I hit the town. And that, folks, is hard to beat.
