Following on from Ed Sheeran’s cameo in Aussie soap Home & Away, the “Thinking Out Loud” singer has now confirmed his role in Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third installment of the popular franchise.

Ed shared the news on social media this morning, posting a selfie with the blockbuster’s leading lady, Reneé Zelwegger, and writing, “Spent the day being an actor in the new Bridget Jones movie. Loved it, you’re gonna love it too.”
Rumours started circling about Ed’s role in the movie, back in August when a film crew were spotted at his Croke Park concert in Dublin, where one of Renée’s stunt doubles was spotted on the shoulders of a man in the audience.
We’re thinking this means Ed will probably play himself, rather than a fictional character, in the highly anticipated film. Either way, we really didn’t need another reason to get excited for the upcoming film, which is set to be released next year.

In other news, the ginger-haired singer has just touched down in Australia where he’ll be hitting the ARIAs red carpet on Thursday night, Carrie Bickmore’s Brainbeats 2015 festival in December, and, let’s face it, probably Taylor Swift’s “1989” tour at some point.
