Emily Ratajkowski Goes Casual on InStyle’s Revamped Cover for March

Our forums have been keeping a watchful eye on InStyle ever since new editor-in-chief Laura Brown became focused on changing the look of a magazine we praised in 2016. Brown’s first issue under her creative control has finally been unveiled for March 2017. Emily Ratajkowski, who’s currently fronting Vogue Spain, graces the cover of InStyle‘s latest revamp shot by Carter Smith. The American actress and model sports a casual look consisting of a graphic white T-shirt, designed exclusively for the magazine by Off-White’s Virgil Alboh.

Is the revamp a success? Our forums are currently divided. “Great covers! It’s always a treat when American magazines put models on covers!” championed GivenchyHomme straight away, quick to show his approval.

“I love the newsstand cover. It has a 90s supermodel vibe to it. It’s also a little reminiscent of Anna Wintour’s first American Vogue cover,” described an eagle-eyed A.D.C.

Also a fan of how things turned out was Zposen, exclaiming, “Wow, she looks very pretty especially on the first cover!”

“I still can’t warm up to the layout but it’s infinitely better than the first three creepy, artificial covers Laura did for InStyle,” reasoned dodencebt, who went on to add, “I feel like both covers are a nod to American Vogue. The newsstand cover reminds me of Anna’s first cover and the subscriber’s one is similar to Lupita [Nyong’o]‘s third cover for the magazine.”

But not everyone was in agreement. “I really thought Laura was going to push InStyle in a fantastic new direction but sadly, this doesn’t excite me in the slightest,” slammed an underwhelmed honeycombchild.

Miss Dalloway wasn’t buying it either. “What on earth is THIS!!! How incredibly disappointing for her first revamp issue!! Just bad – I guess I better not expect much from Laura!” she stated.

“Cheaper than a Grazia cover! And the backdrop looks nearly identical to last month’s cover. I’m afraid I don’t get the US Vogue comparisons at all – this looks infinitely inferior from the photography to the ‘model’,” quipped Benn98.
