Natalia Vodianova Doesn’t Look Very Happy to Be on Porter’s Spring 2017 Cover

Our forums have been big supporters of Porter since the beginning, rooting for the magazine and its ability to deliver terrific covers and content with each issue. Yet lately, the magazine has let standards slip, publishing a series of underwhelming covers. Now, exactly two years after her last appearance, Natalia Vodianova makes a return to the cover for Porter‘s Spring 2017 edition. Shot by Cass Bird, the Russian supermodel looks glum in the dark and moody image, which our forum members picked up on immediately.

Forum members simply weren’t feeling it. “Hate the styling with the corset and I can’t help but feel it’s a rather somber image for spring. For me, Porter hasn’t been smashing it out of the park with their covers quite like they used to lately. This is a little flat and sad for me,” said honeycombchild straight away.

“Another letdown cover from Porter, what is going on there!!” exclaimed an underwhelmed MissDalloway.

Also saddened by the outcome was KateTheGreatest. “Come on Porter, it’s a spring issue. I want colors, I want a smile or a cutesy look and definitely more energy. Especially if it’s shot by Cass Bird. This could be winter issue, it would have been more suiting,” she pointed out in disappointment.

“I love Natalia but not even a corset can give her the illusion of a womanly body,” described a disapproving A.D.C, taking a swipe at the styling.

ThatGuyPaul felt the same way, adding, “Superwoman, bound in a corset? Hmmm. Dubious feminism.”

Kokobombon wasn’t much of a fan of the styling either, declaring, “I hate the styling and the depressing vibe, which isn’t even done in a high-fashion way!”

“Are we looking at the same image?” asked mercyminx. “I think it’s just beautiful. So classy and strong. A modern day [Paolo] Roversi feel,” she admired, in disagreement with the majority.

“Loving the simplicity of it!” favored nastassia.
