is currently riding a wave of success after receiving much-deserved praise last month from our forums for its groundbreaking Halima Aden cover. Now, Emily Ratajkowski, the current face of Harper’s Bazaar Australia, stars on the cover of the August 2017 issue, shot by photographer Daniel Jackson. In the commanding photo, Emily ditches her long tresses in favor of a blunt bobbed wig, while going even further to switch up her usual bombshell look throughout the featured cover story.

Our forum members wasted no time voicing their opinions. “It’s flawless, in an artificial way. The tan, lips, hair, it’s all too perfect. Yet it’s a welcome reprieve to see a beauty magazine go back to basics by ditching the gimmicks. I also see they’re trying a new art direction. Not to my taste, I’m afraid,” said Benn98.
“Looks really dated. Nice to see her on the cover though. But a smile would’ve done this more justice. The overall mood is just so depressing (albeit the season). The layout (although looking better) looks very very dated, 2004 realness! On the bright side, at least they’re trying to step up,” MON acknowledged.
“This sad cover makes me glad I stopped buying this magazine. You ain’t selling me HAIR when the biggest feature on the cover is boobs. Plus mention of porn and dirt. I don’t know whether they’re doing Emily a disservice or just going along with expectations,” critiqued tigerrouge.
The cover continued to generate mixed feelings. “I think she looks gorgeous. Jackson knows how to capture a good portrait. Funny about the cleavage, seems she was just complaining not too long ago about not being taken seriously for acting parts because of her boobs,” pointed out dfl-001.
Forum member 333101 was quick to admit it’s “probably my favorite cover of hers, the styling suits her!”
