Angelina Jolie Makes Her First Cover Appearance in Two Years on the September Issue of Vanity Fair

It’s hard to believe that Angelina Jolie’s last notable magazine cover was for WSJ way back in 2015. Her lack of newsstand presence in recent years is almost offensive. Thanks to Vanity Fair‘s all-important September issue, we’re treated to a glamorous new cover of the Guerlain ambassador, wearing a bright red lip and crystal-encrusted Saint Laurent dress. Photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, Angelina was shot on location at the Warner Bros. Studio in California and looks every inch the global superstar, oozing grace and sophistication throughout the entire cover story.

Amazingly, our forum members were disappointed by the rare cover appearance. “I love the styling and color scheme but the expression in her eyes is kinda off,” pointed out kokobombon straight away.

“Lighting is odd. Also, can’t recall the last time I was more excited for the article than the actual cover,” stated Lucien112.

“This is possibly the worst cover of Angelina I have ever seen!” declared a stunned Miss Dalloway. “What is that face expression? Mouth is off too here, how can you mess up such a beauty is beyond me.”

Echoing the sentiments was dodencebt: “It all looks a bit amateur but I’ll take an Angelina Jolie cover over all the other overexposed actresses any day. I agree that the lighting is the biggest offender here, it’s so harsh in half of the images.”

“Angelina look stunning and all that but good lord the airbrushing is legendary,” mocked maxlinden.

Forum member dfl-001 wasn’t a fan of the post-production either: “I can’t stand the deliberate artifice of the photos. The weird ‘Paint Shop Pro’ lipstick, the inner eyelid and the strange texture of her skin, like she has goose bumps under her eye brows. No thanks.”

“The editorial is good but the cover has been done before and something’s off, something about the eyes…” noted wendylorene.
