While we’re waiting in suspense for Edward Enninful‘s first issue of British Vogue to drop next month, the magazine continues to power through with the newly unveiled November 2017 cover featuring Claire Foy. Our forum members knew just what to expect from Claire’s debut Vogue appearance, having taken an exclusive first look at two prospective cover options back in August. The magazine ultimately went with the full-body shot of Claire, making a bold departure from its usual covers, with the star of The Crown wearing a blush pink Christian Siriano gown, shot by Craig McDean and styled by Kate Phelan.

The cover didn’t go down too well on our forums. “I like the cover and the color scheme and at least it’s notably glamorous. Something which Alexandra [Shulman] rarely bothered with. But they couldn’t get a shot where she’s making direct eye contact? Surely McDean must’ve had a variation of this shot,” quipped Benn98.
“That’s not glamour, that’s just two acres of fabric,” sniped tigerrouge.
“I got mine in the post today and the cover is just as dreary and depressing in real life as it appears on screen. It takes more than a silk ballgown and a questionable green backdrop before you earn the right to plaster ‘The Return of Glamour‘ across the front of your magazine,” complained LastNight.
Also not feeling the pizazz was Royal-Galliano. “Not that UK Vogue has been giving us high-standard covers in recent years but this is ridiculous. ‘The Return of Glamour’? Where? More like a departure… and I’m a big fan of both McDean and Claire!” he voiced.
Khabeer wasn’t buying it either: “This is ugly. The coloring is bad and that dress… I just can’t.”
“December can’t come fast enough!” declared an underwhelmed kokobombon.
“Hope the next issue will be better. Edward put your batteries ON!” exclaimed forum member eneroenero.
Dear Edward, can you hear us? Some real glamour for December would be greatly appreciated. See more from British Vogue‘s November issue here.
