Where’s the Spirit in Alicia Vikander’s Louis Vuitton ‘Spirit of Travel’ Campaign?

Ever since Nicolas Ghesquière took the reins at Louis Vuitton, our forums have been complaining about Alicia Vikander’s affiliation with the French fashion house. Given the number of times our members have been disappointed by her various advertising campaigns for the brand, it’s no surprise that the new ‘Spirit of Travel’ campaign featuring the Swedish actress has, once again, failed to enchant our forums. Photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, Alicia takes us to the island of Ibiza, surrounded by water and sporting Vuitton’s Cruise 2018 collection. (Is it just us, or do these ads make you want to take a vacation — not rush down to the nearest Louis Vuitton store?)

Members of our forums were unimpressed. “They really could have stepped it up with the styling. The outfits chosen do absolutely nothing to enhance the bags which are actually quite awful. The Cruise 2018 collection was good, it’s not being shown to its full potential,” complained GivenchyHomme at once.

“Again, no ‘spirit’ at all. Boring!” declared gazebo.

“God, so fed up with this girl. At least if she was remotely captivating in print it could save the staid styling and photography. But she’s not. I find l the pieces really ugly, and there’s an H&M trying to be Hermes feel about the lazy way Demarchelier shot these images!” Benn98 cried out.

Also quick to disapprove was marsnoop2. “She’s so beautiful in person but so boring in print. Over it,” she stated.

“She shows zero emotions. Zero,” an underwhelmed dodencebt ranted.

“God, she is so boring…” snoozed liberty33r1b.

“I will always have a soft spot for Alicia,” confessed forum member apple. “To me, she’s one of the prettiest actresses right now and her tiny body is so cute. She’s just graceful. But this is totally uninspired.”
