Luna Bijl Returns as the Face of Chanel Eyewear for a Fabulously Retro Fall 2018 Campaign

Our forums share something in common with Karl Lagerfeld: a love for Luna Bijl. Ever since the Dutch beauty first came onto the scene, Lagerfeld has been an admirer, featuring her in advertising campaigns and giving her the honor of opening various Chanel shows during Paris Fashion Week. So, we aren’t at all surprised to see Luna return as the face of Chanel eyewear, after sitting it out last season in favor of Adwoa Aboah. Shot entirely in Lagerfeld’s Paris studio, Luna takes us on an imaginary road trip in the retro-inspired campaign, styled by Carine Roitfeld.

To say our forum members welcomed Luna’s return with open arms would be an understatement. “Oh wow! I love it! Luna is so perfect for this kind of styling, setting and art direction, everything works so well. The first two shots are my favorites, this is definitely a campaign I would look at while reading a magazine,” applauded apple.

“That face! Supermodel! Just gorgeous,” admired guimon.

“This season alone, Karl delivered two great campaigns with his faux outdoor background. Maybe he should use it more often! Perfect styling, and Luna, always a favorite,” Lola701 echoed.

Sharing the same enthusiasm was vogue28: “This is such a nice departure from both Chanel’s previous eyewear campaigns and the current Fall campaign – amazing what a difference a strong concept can do. The retro styling works wonders from Carine Roitfeld here, and of course Luna Bijl looks absolutely gorgeous.”

Benn98, however, disagreed with the majority. “I don’t think I like this campaign, just like I didn’t like Margot [Robbie]‘s. I know the artifice is intentional, but that’s precisely why I don’t like it,” he pointed out.
