Emma Stone, Alicia Vikander and Léa Seydoux Star in Louis Vuitton’s ‘New Classics’ Campaign

Nicolas Ghesquière may be putting out covetable collections over at Louis Vuitton, but the campaigns are in dire need of a revamp. Our forum members have panned virtually every campaign since he took over the iconic French fashion house back in 2013, despite being photographed by the likes of Bruce Weber, Collier Schorr or Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott and starring Ghesquière’s many muses. For Spring 2019, three of the designer’s favorites, Emma Stone, Alicia Vikander and Léa Seydoux, join forces for the “New Classics” campaign. The LV ambassadors were photographed by Craig McDean and styled by Marie-Amélie Sauvé, posing before a clean white backdrop while clutching various versions of the Capucines, Twist and Dauphine handbags.

Maybe the suits over at LV HQ could learn a thing or two from Chanel? “Ugh, can we please stop with Alicia, I just don’t see it. Any of them for that matter but she’s the worst IMO,” said forum member RMDV.

“Do they even try anymore?” wondered Nomar.

“Are actresses less expensive than singers and better than models? There are so many better options for this. And if it’s about numbers of followers on Instagram, there are REAL models with more than these actresses!” pointed out DK92.

“Do y’all hear that? It’s [Steven] Meisel with his Julia/Saskia/Liya/Freja campaign laughing hard,” mocked helmutnotdead.

However, this might not be the worst Vuitton campaign our forum members have seen. “At least they brought emotions and attitude to the set. I’ll give them that,” admitted TaylorBinque.

“I am still not a fan of the bags but at least the girls look great this time,” complimented dodencebt.

Forum member xandroh agreed, commenting, “At least Emma Stone was put into good use this time!”

“Maybe their best handbag campaign in years,” Lola701 added.

Vogue28 also agreed: “The hair and makeup artist need major props, because neither Emma or Léa have looked better in a Louis Vuitton campaign! They just cannot seem to get it right with Alicia but she doesn’t look too bad here, and I do like the simplicity here and think it’s a nice departure from the mainline campaign.”
