You have to hand it to our favorite fashion glossies. They’re powering through the pandemic with relative ease. Titles like Vogue Paris and Vogue Japan have been delivering the goods and now we can add InStyle to the list. In order to generate content, most editors are asking cover subjects to photograph themselves and Drew Barrymore did just that for August 2020. The American actress and entrepreneur ventured out into her garden for the shoot wearing a Louis Vuitton coat, Good American jeans and a T-shirt from her own personal collection on the newsstand cover (below) and for the subscribers’ alternative (after the jump).
“Did she also do her own retouching?” asked mikel.
“There’s some really bizarre retouching going on there. What on earth have they done to her eyes?” wondered honeycombchild.
“Oh, that retouching is criminal!” added MON.

“‘The Badass Women Issue’ is to InStyle what ‘Fabulous at Every Age’ is to Harper’s Bazaar. Make it stop!” pleaded KINGofVERSAILLES.
“Badass is such a Laura Brown thing to say. Badass and boss! So annoying. What a cluttered mess,” critiqued Benn98.
Forum member vogue28 disagreed, however. “The Photoshop doesn’t bother me because to be completely honest, I can’t spot all that much. You can immediately see it’s Drew Barrymore in the shot and think she suits this type of laid-back styling. I like it and kudos to InStyle and Laura Brown for powering on through the pandemic!”
