Since then, orange has made its way onto the faces of models strutting down countless runways, including Marc by Marc Jacobs, Isaac Mizrahi, and Fendi. It’s wonderful to see such an unexpected shade hit so many influential shows, mirroring the fashion color trend of the season. Following the men’s shows (which saw bright orange on the Prada, Z Zegna, Etro, and Haider Ackermann runways), orange has been out in full force.
It played a key role in creating memorable looks at a number of the Spring 2011 women’s shows, including Moschino Cheap & Chic, Jil Sander, Versus, and Prada.
Ken Downing, the Fashion Director of Nieman Marcus, even told the Wall Street Journal that “orange coral” is the shade of the season, and that “American women want color.”
Whether you’re adding orange to your lips or eyes, the shade brings life to your face and adds a pop of color. However, it’s important to remember when opting for an orange hue that you should wear foundation to even out your skin tone.
Remember that if you’re deciding between two shades, the rule of foundation is to go for the lighter shade (many women tend to apply foundation that’s too dark for their complexion). Add a generous coating of mascara and some warm nectar blush, and you’re runway ready.
