Frederic Fekkai is a major player when it comes to runway hair (Marchesa, Proenza Schouler…), so we spoke with one of their lead stylists, Amanda Daly , to get her take on some of this season's most memorable runway looks.

Stylists Dishes on Fall 2013 Looks
Alexander Wang
This is totally wearable and something you can wear to work or out to brunch. The hair around the base of the ponytail makes it look chic and pulled together. To get the look, start with damp hair for that slick look and add gel to avoid any flyaways. Gather the hair into a low ponytail, leaving a small piece of hair out and secure the ponytail with a band. Using the small piece of hair you left out, wrap it around the base to hide the band.
Bottega Veneta
It’s a retro look with a youthful twist. You’ll notice the hair is matte and that’s what makes it youthful, whereas Old Hollywood hair would be sleek and shiny. I think this would be perfect for an event as the texture on the ends is super fun and attention grabbing. To make it wearable, I’d create a very far side part and clip the hair away from the side part at the temples. Stick the hair behind your ears and use a curling iron to create curls/texture at the ends, but don’t create too many curls as it can create too much volume. Backcomb and apply hairspray to maintain hold on this look!
Burberry
The style is user-friendly and can be worn any day and every day of the week! It’s an easy, natural and healthy style that can be replicated without much difficulty. You might not even need a brush. Start with clean hair and pre-dry as much as possible (pre-drying means towel drying your hair or using a blow dryer and your fingers to get it mostly dry). Depending on how straight your hair is, I’d take a large barrel curling iron and curl pieces of hair from the ears down to create some nice waves and hairspray to add some texture. The key here is to use your natural part.
Dolce & Gabbana
The hair is really pretty and very classic without being too clean. It’s not necessarily an everyday look because you need to create a lot of volume at the crown of the head and the hair has been swept over the ears instead of behind. It would be good to wear this style to a formal event. To make it wearable, dry your hair with texturizing spray for volume and hold. Backcomb the hair at the crown of the head but brush over the top to create a smooth look. Bring all the hair back, twist into a messy bun on the side and secure it with pins. Apply hairspray for hold.
Jason Wu
The hair here is deceptively done in the sense that it looks simple but can be very intricate and good for an event. To make it wearable, you want to take your hair and create a middle part. From there, you want to create three sections of hair, one on each side of the head and another in the back. Take the side sections, tuck behind the ears and use the remaining hair to cradle the middle section, pinning it into place. You can then braid the middle section or twist and pin it up. Apply finishing crème to hair to create shine and stave off flyaways.
Gucci
This is a very severe look and you really have to consider what you’re wearing so you’re complementing this style and not clashing with it. To make it wearable, blow dry your hair very straight and flatiron to ensure there are no flyaways. Separate hair in the middle of the head to create a top section and bottom. You can leave the bottom section alone but the top section you want to slick back using a combination of pomade and hairspray.
Mary Katrantzou
I get a very futuristic vibe from this hair style because of the shortness in the front and the long hair in the back. You can take hair from both sides of the head and create a French braid to tighten the sides. Keep braiding until the head starts to curve then stop the braid and create a ponytail.
Prada
This is the “I just got out of the shower” look made for the runways! It’s really simple but not really wearable for everyday. Take wet hair and apply lots of gel and air dry. Blow dry with a diffuser for a few minutes if you’d like!
Thakoon
Like the Katranzou look, this style is very futuristic and definitely not everyday wearable. The hair has been pulled into a ponytail and clip-in extensions have been put into the model’s hair at the crown and then cut.
Versace
This look would be great for people who are growing out their bangs and gives people with long clean hair something extra. Take hair at the front, apply gel and dry it with your fingers straight up to create a mini pompadour. Use a little hairspray when finished to give it hold and leave the rest of the hair nice and loose.
