Nail trends have become so much more than the hottest colors of the season, or perhaps a new longer-lasting polish formula. Nail art is a thing, just look at Pinterest. And it's not the same air-brushed, out-of-touch thing you used to see on the walls of the quickie mani spot down the street. Your manicure has become the latest cheeky, irreverent accessory. You've gotta have a cute one or don't bother. Let's put it this way: red carpet coverage now includes a mani-cam, so you know things are getting serious.

Creatures of the Wind
The nails were a major statement on the runway at Creatures of the Wind. Oranges, neutrals, multicolor, CND nail techs created color schemes that completely reflected and complemented the collection. To get the look, paint your nails with two coats of polish in the color of your choice — we love this orange. Then, use a detail brush or (here's a pro tip!) a find point sharpie to draw squiggly lines up the nail.

Kate Spade
Studs have been hot for so long it was only a matter of time before they migrated off our accessories and onto our nails. The pyramid stud nail art was done by none other than Deborah Lippmann and her team. The almond shaped nails (almond-shaped is the new square) were painted in one of two shades: Fade To Black, or a custom pink created by layering Amazing Grace (opaque white), I Kissed a Girl (pink), and Between the Sheets (fuchsia). A gold pyramid stud, which could be found at most craft stores, was placed an eighth of an inch above the cuticle in the center of the nail.

Rebecca Minkoff
The oil slick nails at Rebecca Minkoff were so popular that there's already tutorials up on YouTube. And they get pretty close to the runway look! Essie's Michelle Saunders used five shades of polish to create the look: deep navy, teal, powder blue, copper and gold. To recreate, dab a couple drops of each color on nail, and then use a fine detail brush to swirl the colors together. Voila!

Degen
Degen was one of the only shows to employ the oft-copied accent nail in their manicure. The ring finger was done in a layer of orange polish with black squiggles (employ that fine detail brush again). The rest of the nails were layers of black and gray. The best way to accomplish this look would be to create a line with tape 1/3 of the way up from your cuticle and paint the exposed nail black, then allow to dry. Next create another tape line 1/3 of the way down from the tip. Paint the exposed nail (the middle 1/3) with a couple coats of an opaque gray. Allow to dry. Paint the bottom 1/3 of the nail a metallic gray or silver with another tape line to complete the look.
