We loved the celebration of the button-up shirt at Steven Alan‘s 20th anniversary collection for Spring 2015. Models looked effortlessly cool with their shirt-inspired looks and youthful makeup. Steven Alan’s shared vision of natural beauty was the perfect complement to the Burt’s Bees notion that nature is the original color expert. With this in mind, makeup artist Katey Denno created a beauty look that focused on youthful makeup with an emphasis on lips.
Denno ensured models were glowing by using Jenette Be Happy Brightening Toner ($25) and Burt’s Bees Radiance Serum ($18) to prep the skin. To even out skin tone and enhance radiance, Denno used a small amount of Vapour Organic Beauty Cream Foundation ($50) using a damp Beauty Blender ($19.95) for a natural finish and Illusionist Concealer ($24) to cover up dark under eye circles and any redness or discoloration. Highlighter was then applied to the light-reflecting areas of the face—this includes the cheekbones, apples of the cheeks, eyelids and cupid’s bow—using a shimmer-infused formula from Ilia Beauty in Polkadots & Moonbeams ($34).
Lashes were curled but no makeup was applied to the eye area in order to adhere to the natural aesthetic. Brows were brushed out and slightly filled in using W3LL People’s Mineral Brow Pigment ($16) on the outer third. The focus of the look came with berry-hued lips, from pink to deep red. Denno custom matched Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon ($9) for each model to the tone of their natural lip color. The color not only restores the youthfulness of lips, but it is also rich in moisture, totally matte and buildable depending on desired intensity. Our favorite? The model with the perfect amount of Napa Vineyard who wore a gorgeous sheer dress.
