Complete with the top five acne treatments, you’ll learn how to get rid of pimples overnight and conceal imperfections like a pro. Pimple: Here today, gone tomorrow!

Glycolic Acid or Salicylic Acid Wipes

Whether you’re in the midst of a bad breakout or not, it’s always best to take preventative measures to nip acne in the bud. For example, after you go for a hike or hit the gym, if you can’t find time to shower right away, New York City-based celebrity dermatologist and acne expert Dr. Whitney Bowe strongly suggests using wipes that have either glycolic acid or salicylic acid (or even better, both!) to wipe away sweat and keep your pores squeaky clean.

Blotting Sheets

Blot til you drop! OK, not seriously, but if you’re acne-prone, the last thing you want to do is get your shine on, which is why stashing some blotting papers in your purse is so necessary. “Dab your T-zone with an oil-absorbing sheet as soon as you start to see the shine,” advises Bowe.

An Anti-Inflammatory

Keep acne at bay and fight the good fight against wrinkles with an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory product that features retinol. “Use it preventatively at night and for sensitive skin, look for a more gentle ingredient, such as dapsone, that treats non-inflammatory acne like whiteheads and blackheads as well,” instructs Bowe.

Vichy Normaderm BB Cream

A Spot Treatment

Spot a pimple? Treat it on the spot with a concentrated product that contains tea tree oil or benzoyl peroxide, says Bowe. Dab it directly onto the zit the moment you notice it forming. Catch it while it’s still bubbling beneath the surface for even faster results.

A BB Cream

Wondering what the best foundations for acne-prone skin are? We recommend something a bit on the lighter side to naturally mask any imperfections without actually looking like you have a mask on your face and allowing your skin to breathe. Our favorite by far is the new Vichy Normaderm BB Clear. Formulated with highly concentrated salicylic acid and mineral pigments, it helps control shine and instantly conceal blemishes, while simultaneously treating acne so the number of your imperfections is reduced by 23 percent after just one month’s use. What’s not to love?

Because many acne products can dry out skin, Bowe advises investing in a great noncomedogenic moisturizer that you can apply morning and night, like Normaderm Hydrating Acne Care. As for concealer, definitely go the liquid route. “These tend not to be very drying, which can bring more attention to pimples.” Oh, and one last thing: Never, ever use products that are lighter than your skin tone, as this will only highlight acne, she warns.
