Choosing your wedding makeup can be even more challenging than selecting a dress. After all, your makeup sets the tone for your entire look and, more practically, it defines your features in your photographs.
Season after season, we turn to Bridal Fashion Week for the best wedding makeup inspiration. The looks range from barely there to seriously glamorous and everything in between. And even though makeup artists express their creativity, these looks are generally easy to recreate and are often more subdued than other runway shows.
This inspiration from Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2017 highlights eyes, lips or skin, so you’ll want to decide which feature you want to emphasize. And the wedding makeup looks convey a certain vibe that should correspond with your day. Most importantly, opt for makeup that makes you feel like your prettiest self. It’s your wedding and you want to feel beautiful and confident.

DOVE: 10 Makeup Looks We Loved at Bridal Fashion Week
Bronze Goddess
At Theia, the models looked like modern-day goddesses in flower crowns and warm, bronzy makeup — perfect for a beach wedding. To recreate this look, focus on using foundation and concealer to make your skin flawless. Contouring is key here, as is combining various shades of tawny, shimmery powders. And be sure to define your brows to give structure to your face.
Bright Eyes
If you want classic makeup with a twist, check out Marchesa for inspiration. Overall, the look was traditional, but a flick of silvery metallic eyeliner on the inner corners of the eyes gave it impact. It's a great way to emphasize your eyes without tons of shadow.
Vampy Lips
If you're having a fall or winter wedding and want a makeup look with a bit of drama, try a dark wine-stained lip. We love the version worn by models at Naeem Khan because it's neither too matte nor too shiny. The eye makeup is minimal, but a sweep of liner helps define the eyes.
Pretty in Pink
Pink eyeshadow is having a moment and nowhere was it softer or more wearable than the Sachin & Babi runway. While monochromatic pink could wash you out, using complementary shades makes the makeup multidimensional. Try ballet pink shadow, coral blush and a rose lip stain for a truly feminine bridal look.
Mixed Matte
At Anne Barge, a bold matte lip played off dewy skin and neutral shades of eyeshadow. Matte lipstick is another makeup trend that easily translates to bridal, especially because most matte formulas are long-wearing. This punchy color looks great on all skin tones and it creates a cool, city girl vibe.
Bare Lashes
If you rarely wear makeup and you're not into the idea of piling it on just because it's your wedding day, this is the look for you. Lela Rose proved that even minimal makeup can be pretty and bridal. Apply a thin flick of black liner to your upper lash line to define your eyes, sweep on your favorite lip gloss and you're good to go. Skipping mascara makes the look more modern.
Lilac Love
At Ines Di Santo, models came down the runway in a sweet all-over lilac makeup look. A sheer wash of pale purple eyeshadow, pink blush with a lavender undertone and lilac-pink lip gloss add color to the face. Use black liner and clusters of false lashes to draw attention to your eyes.
Peach Perfect
If "ethereal" is the adjective you most want to describe your wedding, then the makeup look at Reem Acra is ideal. Dewy, highlighted skin is the foundation of this look and shimmering peach shades are layered over top. Define your cheeks with a pale peach blush, dust peach shadow over your lids and finish it off with peach lip gloss.
Glossy Lids
Add a cool, modern element to any classic makeup look by glossing your lids — as seen on the Carol Hannah runway. Models wore minimal makeup with well-defined brows and pink-stained lips. Glossy lids make this makeup feel fresh and young.
Lips Only
If your lips are your favorite feature, try the look that went down the runway at Truly Zac Posen. Makeup was bare except for perfect skin (so focus on foundation and concealer) and a bold red lip. It's classic glam at its best.
