Then you’ll be excited to hear that the Fall 2010 trend in make-up will be taking a trip back in time, with a particular reference to the mod-rocker styles of that era.
The look and mood of this was summed up perfectly at Isabel Marant’s Fall/Winter 2010 show. Ginta Lapina paraded the catwalk with a swishy ponytail, exaggerated cat’s eyes, and a little dotty knotted scarf around the neck.
At Giambattista Valli, thick liquid lined eyes were the main focus, paired with pale lips. At Dsquared, wing-shaped black eye shadow and red lips were the look of the day. At Dolce and Gabbana, velvet red lips and strong brows dominated.
For those of you who can’t quite get the hang of applying liquid eyeliner, now you can cheat with a pair of Shu Uemura Egerie false eyelashes, featuring black leather at the base, which will give you instant cat’s eyes. Available at Sephora
Make-up artists are starting to accentuate eyebrows to create a thicker, angular shape similar to that of the 1950’s. So expect to see bigger, and even obviously fake, painted-on eyebrows, which also nods to that era.
Also, this Spring/Summer’s Dolly top knot will be evolving into a rockabilly bun for next winter.
The best example of this up-do was at Fendi, with the models’ hair piled on top of the head, twisted and pinned to fall over the forehead.
