A Masked Gwyneth Paltrow Stars on Harper’s Bazaar’s November Issue (Forum Buzz)

Gwyneth Paltrow’s last cover for US Harper’s Bazaar was back in 2013 and considering the mag has a tendency to recycle the same cover subjects, a three-year absence is somewhat of an achievement. The actress/lifestyle guru makes her long-awaited return for the November 2016 cover, posing for Bazaar regular Alexi Lubomirski. On both the newsstand (below) and subscribers cover, Gwyneth channels Zorro wearing a face mask and matching lace bodysuit from La Perla for a bold and unconventional cover image.

Bazaar‘s efforts, however, failed to resonate with our forum members. “The cover looks stiff and awkward. I’m assuming the mask is Photoshopped on? Either way, it looks Photoshopped and badly so. Very fake. That first image from the editorial would’ve made for an amazing cover though,” MyNameIs pointed out.

Sharing the same sentiments was Nymphaea: “The mask looks very fake almost like they’ve put it there with Photoshop: copy and paste. Also her eyes are a bit smallish. Overall it gives me a Christmas vibe.

“She’s been on at least three more covers. Once under [Liz] Tilberis, September 2005, and a really Pink one by Lindbergh. IDK how I remember this given that none of them have been very memorable but either way…way way way way too many!” A.D.C disapproved.

Also unimpressed was tigerrogue, discrediting, “I don’t get that cover, it’s like seeing a celebrity dress up as a female Zorro.”

“I would have loved it without the mask,” liberty33r1b chimed in.

Benn98 wasn’t much of a fan of the styling either. “Are they serious with that mask for the cover? It looks so ill-fitting. These people are clueless,” he mocked in embarrassment.

“What happened to having models on covers?” asked a disgruntled jal718.
