After Karl Lagerfeld took Chanel’s Pre-Fall collection to Hamburg back in December and had German beauty Anna Ewers open the show, we aren’t at all surprised to see Karl’s new fav score the campaign for the collection (Anna did, after all, give Chanel its best campaign in years for Fall 2015). Photographed by The Kaiser himself in his signature dark and moody photography, Anna is joined on the street by 10-year-old Hudson Kroenig in a select few black and white campaign images while his father, Brad Kroenig, and fellow male models Sebastien Jondeau and Augustin Maillot lurk in the background.
Despite all the love our forum members have for Anna, her modeling ability simply wasn’t enough to elevate the campaign. “She has lost the fire. She’s so mediocre these days. I think this concept is fitting for that collection but wish there was more variety in the images themselves,” commented simon.
“She looks kinda pedestrian in these,” added fer19dog.
Forum member Benn98 agreed: “Can’t pinpoint when exactly Anna Ewers stop looking like a model, but it feels like it’s been some time coming. This campaign is uneventful. And least crusty Karl’s photography feels better than usual this time around. Love the mise-en-scene touches.”

“Anna sadly fails to elevate what had the potential to be a dramatic moody cinematic campaign. Would have been loads better with the real Claudia [Schiffer],” noted zoom.
Lola701 wasn’t feeling it either, saying, “The lookbook was so flawless that when I saw Anna’s name, I was expecting the same magic to happen again. Major letdown!”
“It’s more of the same. The shots feel lazy, I see the same car in every picture. Anna is not a great model. I wish this was Luna Bijl or Birgit Kos,” expressed anlabe32.
