Vogue Turkey June 2018 : Kendall Jenner & Mert Alas by Marcus Piggott

Kendall Jenner and Mert Alas Help Vogue Turkey Celebrate Its 100th Issue With a Whole Lot of Photoshop

After a well-received Dua Lipa cover last month, Vogue Turkey’s newfound confidence comes just in time as it celebrates its 100th issue this month. Turkish Vogue first hit newsstands back in 2010 with a conservative and aesthetically pleasing Jessica Stam cover and has certainly had its fair share of highs and lows over the past eight years. For the celebratory June 2018 edition, the magazine enlisted half of the country’s most recognizable photography team, Mert Alas, to appear in front of the lens with Kendall Jenner, who hitches a ride on his motorcycle across the desert. Mert’s counterpart, Marcus Piggott, opted to stay behind the camera and snap the totally comical cover image.

Members of our forums didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “I cant believe it’s a real cover, looks fan-made! The Photoshop is so bad and obvious here,” wrote Nocturnal upon checking out the cover.

“Good God, now I’ve seen it all! This is a new nauseating level of vanity which shouldn’t be tolerated. Everything looks so fake, Photoshopped and terribly tacky. Kendall, the setting, his expression (which, is it supposed to be hot?),” asked Benn98.

Also unable to believe their eyes was Miss Dalloway. “My God, he is such a joke of a fame whore. I literally had to unfollow him due to his annoying duck face, and now this has me in stitches! A perfect pairing of two empty, vain imbeciles!” she declared.

“LMAOOOOOOO. I can’t,” commented happycanadian.

“An awful cover… I can’t even get past Mert’s huge head. Kendall’s face is way too Photoshopped and OMG those lips. Horrible all around for this atrocity,” Zposen slammed.

Style Savvy was seeing hints of some major post-production too, writing, “Nice cover, but could’ve been better if they lessened the airbrushing on Kendall’s face.”

“I love this!” raved GivenchyHomme, disagreeing with the majority. “It looks straight of of the early 2000s. No one takes risks anymore, it’s a sea of lifeless Vogue Italia clones. I’ll take something fun over that any day!”
