It’s official: Olivia Colman is the industry’s latest obsession. Following a triumphant appearance on American Vogue last month, the actress is now making her debut on the cover of British Harper’s Bazaar for November 2019. The star of The Crown looks right at home on location at the historic Burden Kahn Mansions posing before the lens of Alexi Lubomirski. In the regal newsstand cover image (below), Olivia wears a red Simone Rocha number courtesy of Miranda Almond, while the subscribers’ cover (after the jump) has her sporting a custom Alexander McQueen royal blue gown.
Bazaar‘s latest divided our forums. “Much prefer this over the American Vogue cover, purely for how bright and regal it is! The red looks great, appreciate the minimal cover lines and quite like the choice of profile shot. It is very literal given Olivia Colman’s upcoming role in The Crown, but just perfect for British Harper’s Bazaar!” heralded vogue28.
“Gorgeous, she’s quite the stealthy dark horse! Do wish they didn’t crop the image like that because it makes what she’s wearing look really odd. And a simple pearl earring would’ve been enough really,” wrote Benn98.

“I suppose they were going for regal/classy, but it looks like a friend took a photo while Olivia was having her passport photo taken,” disapproved Melancholybaby.
Miss Dalloway wasn’t a fan, either. “Easily the worst cover shot of hers I have ever seen!”
“They went far too literally ‘regal’ for my tastes. I love that U.S. Vogue avoided the obvious with their cover shot. This is precisely the opposite of that,” noted an underwhelmed honeycombchild.
“That tacky earring takes attention away from her. All things considered, they’ve had better days,” declared MON.
