Christine Centenera Photographs and Styles Adut Akech for Vogue Australia’s August 2020 Cover

At just 20 years old, Adut Akech already has three Aussie Vogue covers under her belt. Now the South Sudanese-Australian beauty lands a fourth with the title’s August 2020 offering. Photographed and styled by the magazine’s fashion director Christine Centenera, Adut poses in a mix of Burberry, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga and Tiffany & Co. for the intriguing image.

The cover clearly divided our forum members. “Who thought that this angle was flattering?” asked Nomar.

“The picture and the fonts are a total mess,” voiced Urban Stylin.

“The red will stand out on newsstands and I like the glossiness of the image, but someone from that angle will never be flattering. Plus, the placement of her hand looks off,” critiqued Benn98.

Kiyoko wasn’t impressed with the outcome: “Deborah Mailman, Leah Purcell or Jessica Mauboy deserve this cover more than Adut Akech…again.”

“Editors should stay editors and designers should stay designers. Leave the photography to the pros,” declared GivenchyHomme.

“My initial reaction to the cover was why? But slowly it grows on you,” confessed bluebanter.

But Miss Dalloway disagreed with the majority. “This is easily my favorite cover from Vogue Australia this year so far. Just love the angle…”
