Vogue Australia December 2020 : Awkwafina by Charles Dennington

Awkwafina Is Almost Unrecognizable on Vogue Australia’s December 2020 Cover

Australia hasn’t exactly been our favorite magazine this year. The Aussie fashion bible started off strong with a gorgeous Adut Akech offering, but totally dropped the ball with its Zendaya, Dua Lipa and Cate Blanchett covers the following months. Even the mag’s September cover by indigenous artist Betty Muffler fell short. To close the chapter on 2020, Awkwafina makes an appearance on Australian Vogue’s December issue wearing Miu Miu picked by Philippa Moroney for the Charles Dennington-shot cover.

But the cover failed to impress our forum members. “Oh god, this is so bad yet it could have been great if they even tried!” declared Miss Dalloway.

“Would never have recognized her if her name wasn’t on the cover. What’s the point of booking celebs if you’re going to make them look so unlike themselves? Such a shame,” said KINGofVERSAILLES.

“I hardly recognize her. The styling is very juvenile,” mikel chimed in.

Benn98 certainly agreed: “Looks too childish for a magazine that’s all about mature, grown-up women. This cover would be better suited to Miss Vogue that was killed off. Plus, the styling and pose are awful. One of their worst covers in a while.”

“She looks so uncomfortable. I’d be too if I were styled that way,” voiced Ken Doll Jenner.

“I’m always happy to see more diversity on covers, but did they have to make her look so terrible?” asked Nomar.

Meanwhile, caioherrero simply described the cover as “trash.”
