Given all the staff changes at Marie Claire, the magazine has undoubtedly suffered. Recent covers featuring Chrissy Teigen and Gabrielle Union have simply failed to impress. Not even Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh were able to save the mag’s final 2020 offering. We’re hoping Sally Holmes can turn things around by welcoming Priyanka Chopra as the American glossy’s first cover star of 2021. Returning to the publication four years after her last cover appearance, the actress poses before the lens of Ruth Ginika Ossai for the title’s Spring 2021 offering. For cover number one (below), Priyanka wears a look from Christian Dior and dons a hot pink Dolce & Gabbana number on the second cover (after the jump).
The Dior cover was the first to drop. “Cover image is way too dark,” critiqued SLFC.
“Yeah, right?” replied annikad. “Somehow the lighting seems off. That makes the background seem even more fake.”
“Ruth Ginika Ossai is making it really hard for me to root for her with these awful covers. First Jodie Turner-Smith for ELLE, now this one. Lighting is bad, that printed backdrop looks cheap, which I know is her signature and supposed to be ironic, and Priyanka is posing as if a red carpet pap just begged her for a shot,” complained Benn98.

“Certainly not the worst Marie Claire cover I’ve come across,” admitted vogue28.
“A bit too dark, but overall quite a nice cover. I like the colors and composition. Everything is nicely balanced,” admired mikel.
KINGofVERSAILLES wasn’t entirely disappointed: “Lighting is unusually moody for a newsstand cover, but I think I like it. And Priyanka looks beautiful.”
“I like it. One of their better covers for sure, but it could’ve used some brightness,” echoed MON.
