Christian Dior’s Pre-Fall 2021 Campaign Really Pops

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Christian Dior may not be the most celebrated creative partnership on our forums. But even after all the disappointing collections and ads, we have to confess that the brand’s Cruise 2021 and Spring 2021 campaign offerings were the best we’ve encountered in years. Now following the fashion house’s recent Pre-Fall 2021 showcase in Shanghai, the accompanying campaign just dropped. Brigitte Niedermair steps back behind the lens capturing Steinberg, Sculy Mejia, Kayako Higuchi and Jits Bootsma up against various vibrant backdrops.

Unlike recent seasons, Dior’s latest faced some criticism. “It just lacks something…but at least it looks like someone had fun with this!” voiced YohjiAddict.

“Brigitte Niedermair is not exactly known for her use of strong colors. So she’s not really a good fit for a pop art-inspired campaign,” noted mikel.

“High school art project but make it Dior,” said an unimpressed Nomar.

Royal-Galliano was also disappointed: “Sadly this feels very 80s, too conservative and most importantly, boring. I don’t see how this could speak to a young customer at all.”

But GERGIN disagrees. “I like the concept here this time, it’s the use of color and the way the neon highlights the silhouettes of the models.”

“I like it only because it’s something different from Dior…” confessed kokobombon.

“Me too and at the very least it’s an immediate departure from the Spring 2021 campaign. The colors are also sure to stand out in print and the focus is undoubtedly on the clothes and accessories. I’m struggling to critique this, actually!” proclaims vogue28.
