Lady Gaga is ratings bait, so it’s a nice score for the CW, but there’s only so much she and Jean Paul Gaultier can say to each other on national television. They can’t fawn over each other the way reporters fawn over them in interviews; they can’t talk too much about fashion without getting insidery and alienating a big chunk of their viewership. I mean, I guess they could talk about boys and fun ways to torture assistants and the shortcomings of certain models of private jets and it would be unbelievably interesting and entertaining, but they probably know better than to open themselves up to criticism by revealing so much of themselves. The camera adds ten pounds of privilege, and it’s just not a good look.
Whatever they end up talking about, I’ll be watching! And so, probably, will you.
