She’s left her Fashion Director position at ELLE, and Project Runway is experiencing major growing pains — but Nina Garcia is still keeping herself stylish and busy.
The contest closes June 30, with the winner announced just before Fall Fashion Week 2008. Like on Project Runway, this competition’s $10,000 top prize is intended to help launch a design career.
Garcia stated the following: “The design challenge we’re posing is a fashion transformation unlike any other. We’re taking an iconic accessory – the birth control case – and asking aspiring designers to take a shot at redesigning it into a chic, more sophisticated carrying case that they could slip into their purses.”
Step Up Women’s Network is a nonprofit charity organization devoted to empowering young women through education, advocacy, and developing community resources.
