See Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2012 Campaign

Starring models Kati Nescher and Daria Strokous and photographed by fashion photog grandmaster Stephen Meisel, the ads are bright and airy, loaded up on pastels. Somehow, Marc Jacobs managed to spin an ice cream parlor into a fantasy realm for grown-ups. At first glance, the photos seem like a window into the best place in the whole wide world.

The campaign appears to be a complete success, but it’s a little upsetting. We happen to be grown-ups here, after all, not five-year-old girls striving to be fairy princesses. But when you look at these pictures, you just want to bliss out for a few hours to daydreams of soda counters and cherry sundaes and extremely expensive clothes. There’s an aspirational aspect to almost every fashion campaign, but these Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 ads tap into the desire to be a little kid again.
