In the June/July double issue of Interview magazine, today’s most noted fashion wunderkind, Marc Jacobs, imitates pop culture legend, Andy Warhol.
Jacobs appears on the cover of the magazine, which is an ode to Warhol whose 80th birthday would have been this August.
Jacobs, who like Warhol, blurs the lines between art, commerce, and fashion (i.e. collaborations with Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince), is photographed for the cover with a mop of platinum hair, a black tie, and a white shirt.
Inside the issue, Jacobs get done-up in long faux-eyelashes, a red wig and Louis Vuitton heels, and is quoted as saying that he doesn’t think of himself as Warhol-like saying that, “Warhol is Warhol. He’s practically a god. I thought, ‘I’m going to get a lot of hell for this.’”
Proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts ($35) and tote bags ($15) will benefit the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.
