Tentatively titled Fashion Stories of NYC, the show will follow four design teams as they scurry to create “the defining collection of their careers.” It’s not clear whether ALT will serve as mentor or judge (or both?), but either way, your favorite man-about-town will be front and center.
Much as I love Talley and welcome his return to the small screen, I can’t say I’m sold on the concept: design teams are swell, and truly the way a lot of fashion gets made, but reality TV hinges on reckless individualism — not teamwork. I don’t watch reality shows to see a cohesive group collaborate, I watch to see people tear each other down.
On the flip side, Bravo knows its way around a reality set: the network has mastered the fine art of transforming the dreckiest dreck into next-level-addictive TV. As long as Andre Leon Talley doesn’t get too caught up in keeping his dignity intact, it looks like we’re in for a treat.
