A woman can never have too many shoes…or, more to the point, any kind of accessory in general, right? There’s one designer you need to have on your radar: Gaetano Perrone. For those of you who regularly swot up on your fashion knowledge, you’re already familiar with the name and know that he’s currently the shoe designer for Alexander McQueen and Corso Como Russia. On the other hand, you may not have realized that he actually launched his own label back in the spring and, yes, it’s fab!
Gaetano Perrone’s Design Inspirations
Initially, it was working alongside Antonio Berardi which opened Perrone’s eyes to the limitless creative opportunities to be had whilst designing handmade shoes. Later, whilst leading the shoe design department at Salvatore Ferragamo, he learnt how to inject classic products with freshness and modernity. For his own label, Perrone has taken these design experiences and combined them with influences from his own southern native origins to create shoes to help women feel feminine yet strong. To get a feel for what we mean, check out a few choice picks from his AW/12 and SS/13 collections:
