Well that was fast. Just yesterday we got wind of Amanda Seyfried‘s new contract with Givenchy, and today, the first image appeared on Vogue Mexico’s website. There it is, appearing at the top of this post. Photographed by Glen Luchford, who typically does beautiful work, and styled by Givenchy’s creative director himself, Riccardo Tisci, and starring one of Hollywood’s loveliest and most talented young actresses… I’m just going to be negative again: this campaign, I can resist it. It’s possible that I fall outside the targeted demographic; the floral, romantic pink packaging, the sheer lacy top and wide-brim hat all read older, or at least traditional. I can sort of imagine my grandmother looking at this ad and swooning a little. Still, I can accept the fact that not all products in the world were created to please me, but I don’t understand why Givenchy would pull an It starlet like Seyfried and then hide half her face in fedora shadows.
"Great cover, quite impactful."
