The Mulleavy sisters are the winners of the CFDA award, and although that’s wonderful, the brighter the spotlight, the greater pressure there is – so when you create a buzz like the two sisters have done with Rodarte, you better live up to it.
The Rodarte show stood out in new York, and in the front row were Natalie Portman, Elijah Wood and Diane Von Fustenberg, and members of the fashion royalty that usually don’t bother attending
young designer shows.
This Rodarte collection was said to be inspired by light installations, skeletons and x-rays (the invite was an x-ray).
The show then led on to beautiful pieces very reminiscent of their F/W 08 collection, only in a different color variation, with a lot of deteriorated cotton and wool dresses with metal chains, leather detailing, sometimes paired with cut out leggings which became repetitive.
