Cara Delevingne Parties with a Mulberry Menagerie

Proving once again that Cara Delevingne has more hours in a day than you have; the 21-year-old model has been revealed as the face for Mulberry’s SS14 campaign, hosting a very British tea party alongside a host of unexpected animal friends.

A far cry from her Christmas family exploits in Barbados, Cara threw herself wholeheartedly into the shoot that was described by a Mulberry spokesperson as “a charming English tea party, with a Mulberry twist and some unexpected guests including a Parson’s Jack Russell, a Patterdale Terrier and a Great Dane, a pelican, two cockatoos, a tortoise and a little white (and very greedy) pony.”

Art director Ronnie Cooke Newhouse said that the campaign, shot on location at 18th century Shotover House in Oxfordshire, was “the perfect Mulberry moment. [The animals] didn’t have the best table manners, but Cara was very forgiving.”

The shoot adds further fuel to the fire that the British model is pretty much at ease anywhere, with anyone or anything for that matter, having already lounged around with a bunch of owls in Mulberry’s AW13 campaign. She certainly reprised her affinity of birds with a cheeky chat with a cockatoo, as posted on her Instagram.

With long-standing Mulberry collaborator Tim Walker behind the camera, the eclectic campaign is an expectedly ethereal delight, taking Delevingne out of her onesies and New years antics with Rihanna and into the brand’s ultra feminine floral prints and jacquard fabrics accessorised with the brights and whites of the new handbag designs.

Mulberry has a tendency to name handbags after its muses, so it may not be long until Miss Delevingne is following in the footsteps of Alexa and posing next to the Cara bag next season. Until then, we can simply sit and wait for Spring to blossom as beautifully as this SS14 campaign.
