Celine Designer Johnny Coca Heads to Mulberry

The rumor mill strikes again. Johnny Coca, the head design director for leather goods, accessories, shoes and jewelry for Celine since 2010, has been tapped as Mulberry’s new creative director. Coca succeeds Emma Hill, who turned in her papers approximately 17 months ago.

Whispers pinning the designer as the front-runner on Mulberry’s short list began as far back as the beginning of October. That list included names from Erdem to former Chloe Creative Director Hannah MacGibbon, Roland Mouret and former Issa Creative Director Blue Farrier.

Coca will report to Chairman and CEO Godfrey Davis, and his duties will include accessories, ready-to-wear and windows. He begins his new post July 8, 2015.
