Alexander McQueen Is the Subject of a New Play

Alexander McQueen continues to fascinate people even five years after his tragic death. In 2011, the Metropolitan Museum of Art honored the work of the designer with its Savage Beauty exhibit, which was seen by 661,509 people and was one of the most popular fashion exhibits in the museum’s history. It was so successful that Savage Beauty is now headed to London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, opening March 14. McQueen is also one-half of the subject of a Dana Thomas Book, Gods and Kings: The Rise and Fall of Alexander McQueen and John Galliano.

And the fascination continues with a play due to bow at the St. James Theatre stage in London this May. The James Phillips written show will tell the story of a young woman who breaks into McQueen’s home to steal a dress and is caught in the act by the designer — a thief with discerning taste indeed.

According to The Guardian, members of the McQueen family approve of the play, which will be directed by John Caird. Catch the play at the St. James Theatre from May 12 to June 6.
