Melbourne-based label Pageant has won the prestigious 2015 Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award, presented at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival last night, March 16.
Ragtrader reports that design-duo Amanda Cumming and Kate Reynolds beat finalists bùl, Emma Mulholland, macgraw, and Verner to receive a cheque of $10,000 and a custom-designed trophy from the jeweller. In addition, Cumming and Reynolds will also be flown to New York by Virgin Australia to meet with Tiffany & Co.’s design team.
Tiffany & Co. Australia’s vice president and managing director, Glen Schlehuber, told Ragtrader that the win was well justified. “Amongst an outstanding level of finalists this for this year’s Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award, Pageant stood out for their excellence in design and fashion innovation,” he said. “We look forward to seeing the rise of Pageant over the ensuing seasons.”
The same award has previously launched the careers of esteemed Aussie fashion brands like Romance Was Born, Christopher Esber, Yeojin Bae, Josh Goot and Strateas.Carlucci.
Founded in only 2010, Pageant in an Australian-made mens and womenswear label designed with high-tech Japanese fabrics for a structured and modern feel. Pageant is also a finalist for the 2015 BT Emerging Fashion Designer Award, announced next week.
