Kelly Osbourne Praises Angelina Jolie for Surgery Op-Ed, Reveals She Has the Cancer Gene, Too

Angelina Jolie just published an op-ed in The New York Times detailing her decision to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes after tests showed that she may be developing early stages of cancer. Two years ago, she underwent a double mastectomy after testing positive for the BRCA1 gene, making her extremely susceptible to developing cancer.

But Angelina isn’t the only celebrity struggling with the telltale gene. Kelly Osbourne came forward to admit that she, too, carries the gene and threw her support behind the actress for making the life-saving decision. “I agree with this 100 percent. I know that one day I will eventually have to do it too because if I have children, I want to be there to bring them up,” she said on an episode of The Talk. “I want to be there to support them in every way I can.”

Kelly knows the struggle of having a parent fighting the disease and sees Angelina’s piece as a wonderful way to keep people informed about the condition. “I have been the child of a cancer survivor, so being on that end as well is really, really hard to deal with, so I’m so lucky to have the brave mother I have that has taught me so much. It’s something I applaud Angelina for because she’s bringing attention to this, and people are now going to go out and get tested for it.”

Let’s hope Kelly can continue to remain happy and healthy!
