Tyra Banks Thinks the New ANTM Contestants Are the Best in the World

Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 9 is kicking off tonight, and we’ve been told show founder Tyra Banks thinks this group of girls has more potential than any other country’s version of the show right now. That’s according to the show’s judges and mentors, Jennifer Hawkins, Alex Perry, Cheyenne Tozzi and Didier Cohen, who told us the smize-queen herself had a lot of love for the Australians.

“We’ve got a strong group of girls who have really great features, really great bodies, really great looks,” Alex tells theFashionSpot, saying this is the best selection he’s seen in all of the nine seasons. Tyra got to see that for herself when she came down under to guest judge the show.

“It was a proud moment for us when she stepped on because she created this show,” Didier explains. “But we knew the type of girls that were on set, so we were really proud to show her the girls that we found, and she thought the girls were higher above any other country.”

That’s a big call. The show is produced in over 20 different countries throughout the world, and Tyra’s proven time and again that she knows her stuff when it comes to model qualities.

Although there’s a lot of hype about the girls’ potential this season, the proof of this show’s success is in the pudding. We’re not only talking about winners like Montana Cox and Amanda Ware, we’re looking at runner-ups like Simone Holtznagel and Cassie Van Den Dungen, who are also doing great things. “Our track record is better than anybody’s, even the US,” says Alex. “We’re more authentic. It’s not as staged.”
